Freeze warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for several counties in Florida as cold temperatures threaten both people and pets.
Temperatures are forecasted to drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, with lows expected to reach 27 degrees in northeastern Florida and southern Georgia.
The following counties are under freeze warnings: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Hamilton, Marion, Nassau, St. Johns, Putnam, Suwannee, Union.
NWS advises keeping pets indoors and protecting vulnerable populations, especially young children, the elderly, and those without shelter.
Cold conditions may also affect wildlife, particularly iguanas, which can suffer from cold-stunned states at low temperatures.
