  • The suspects, identified as Herwig F., Ina F., and Thomas R., are accused of working for an intelligence service based in China.
  • From 2017 onwards, Thomas R. reportedly acted as an agent, liaising with the couple who owned a company in Düsseldorf.
  • They allegedly collected data on advanced technologies, including boat engines and sonar systems, potentially enhancing China's naval combat capabilities.
  • The trio has faced pre-trial detention since their arrest in April last year, amidst increasing concerns of espionage incidents in Germany.
