The third edition of the Late Shri Manohar Parrikar Goa International chess tournament will take place from January 11 to 19 at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium.
The event resumes after a five-year hiatus and aims to provide Goan players with a chance to compete against leading grandmasters.
A total of Rs 53 lakh in prize money has been allocated, attracting participation from 23 countries and 850 registered players.
Notable participants include 19 Grandmasters and young talents such as GM Anurag Mhamal and IM Ethan Vaz, while GM Leon Mendonca will be absent.
The tournament aims to help local players gain exposure and improve their rankings to attend international events.
