An Australian student, Hadi Nazari, was found safe after being missing for two weeks near the country's tallest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko. The 23-year-old from Melbourne survived by foraging for berries, drinking water from a creek, and consuming two muesli bars left by other hikers, authorities reported (SCMP) and (Reuters).
He went missing on December 26 while hiking in the Kosciuszko National Park and was located on January 8 by fellow hikers who alerted police. NSW Police Inspector Josh Broadfoot praised Nazari’s resilience, stating, “This is the fourteenth day we've been looking for him and for him to come out and be in such good spirits and in such great condition, it’s incredible.”
More than 300 searchers scoured the rugged bushland during the extensive rescue operation. Remarkably, Nazari was found without any significant injuries, showcasing the critical importance of survival skills in the wild.
