In a recent outburst on Truth Social, Donald Trump launched an all-caps tirade aimed at blaming Joe Biden for the wildfires engulfing Los Angeles. Trump posted, “NO WATER IN THE FIRE HYDRANTS, NO MONEY IN FEMA. THIS IS WHAT JOE BIDEN IS LEAVING ME. THANKS JOE!,” criticizing the lack of resources as the fires wreak havoc, forcing over 80,000 people to evacuate and resulting in at least two deaths and extensive property damage.
This outburst follows reports from The Los Angeles Times, which cited "tremendous demand" as the reason some fire hydrants in California have been left dry during the wildfires. Amid this crisis, Trump has consistently directed his frustration towards Democrats, further stoking tensions with California Governor Gavin Newsom, whom he mockingly refers to as “Newscum.”
On multiple occasions throughout the day, Trump reiterated his disdain for the current administration’s handling of the situation. Earlier in September, while campaigning, he had claimed he would deny federal wildfire aid to California unless Governor Newsom diverted more water to farmers, deeming this the necessary course of action.
He added, “I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this.” This sentiment reflects Trump’s ongoing campaign narrative that often seeks to counter political adversaries by attributing crises and failures directly to their governance.
Despite his provocative statements, Trump's remarks serve to further polarize the ongoing discussion surrounding the wildfires and exacerbate an already contentious political climate.
