The Biden administration is requesting a federal appeals court to obstruct a plea deal for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the September 11 attacks.
This request follows a scheduled guilty plea that would spare him the death penalty.
A military judge at Guantanamo Bay and an appeals panel previously denied Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's bid to annul the plea agreement.
