Brazilian forward Neymar has expressed excitement over the prospect of reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez at Inter Miami. As he approaches the end of his contract with Al-Hilal, he stated that playing alongside his friends again would be “incredible.” Neymar, who formed a formidable trio with Messi and Suárez while at Barcelona, stated, “Obviously, playing again with Messi and Suárez would be incredible. They are my friends, we still speak to each other,” in an interview with CNN.
Despite currently being happy at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Neymar acknowledged that football is unpredictable and hinted that he might explore options in the future. Since his transfer from PSG, he has faced difficulties, participating in only seven matches due to injuries, raising questions about his future. His contract is set to expire in June 2024.
During his tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar amassed an impressive record of 118 goals over six seasons but fell short of clinching the elusive Champions League title. He noted the timing of his transfer from PSG limited his options, saying, “When the news came out that I was leaving Paris St Germain, the transfer window was closed in the United States.” Despite praising the Saudi league project, he did not dismiss the idea of a move to the U.S. when the opportunity arises.
Looking ahead, Neymar is also focused on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which he has indicated may be his last chance at international glory. Currently Brazil sits fifth in the South American qualifiers as they strive for a top-six finish to ensure automatic qualification. “I know this to be my last World Cup, my last shot, my last chance and I will do everything I can to play in it,” he stated, reflecting on his commitment to the national team.
