Mahindra & Mahindra has recently launched the pricing and details for its electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6, alongside the inauguration of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility devoted to electric vehicle (EV) production. This new facility is a key part of Mahindra’s extensive investment plan, which allocates Rs 4,500 crore specifically for EV manufacturing and technology integration under a broader Rs 16,000 crore initiative from FY22 to FY27.

The EV plant, located in Chakan, spans 88,000 m² and boasts impressive technological advancements, including over 1,000 robots and AI-powered systems that enhance manufacturing efficiency. By utilizing sustainable practices, the facility operates entirely on renewable energy and serves as a water-positive unit, affirming Mahindra's commitment to environmentally friendly production methods.

Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 are developed on Mahindra's INGLO platform, with buyers having the choice of two battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh. The pricing for these top-spec variants has been set with the BE 6’s Pack Three variant at Rs 26.90 lakh and the XEV 9e Pack Three variant at Rs 30.50 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). In addition, the Pack One variants are priced at Rs 18.90 lakh for the BE 6 and Rs 21.90 lakh for the XEV 9e. The EVs promise impressive ranges of 682 km and 656 km, respectively, with rigorous testing ensuring their battery safety and reliability ([source](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/auto/cars/mahindra-xev-9e-be-6-top-variant-prices-out-battery-range-emi-and-more/articleshow/117028276.cms)).

Aiming to establish luxury EVs in the mainstream segment, Mahindra is targeting initial monthly sales of 5,000 units combined for both models. The automation in the assembly process aligns with Mahindra's vision of "Make in India for the World," which significantly contributes to India's commitments demonstrated at COP26 for 2030.

In a move to enhance efficiency, advanced safety features and performance metrics are a highlight for these new models. The rigorous testing phase included over 5.5 million km of scrutiny, assessing battery safety aspects such as vibration, flame resistance, and immersion.

With an eye towards the future, Mahindra has not only invested in manufacturing technology for their electric vehicles but is also focused on customer accessibility and affordability through initiatives like the 'Three For Me' program, offering competitive EMIs for prospective buyers of the BE 6 and XEV 9e models.

As booking dates approach, with reservations set to commence on February 14, 2024, and promising delivery timelines shortly thereafter, the anticipation for these electric SUVs continues to grow.
